Ok, since you have read the detailed article by Tomoe, you will have realised that many of the anime theme songs now are hogged by J-Pop songs.

Comments:

Can't really comment much, since i only know 7 of the songs (19, 11, 09, 08, 07, 06 and 04), and over half of them are produced before i was even borned! Many of these anime are not well-known overseas, and some are only popular in certain places. For e.g, Chibi Maruko-chan is actually VERY famous in Asia, but it's obsolete in other countries. Mazinger Z may be the most famous Super Robot show around, but not many people know about it, etc.

I bet if i came up with my own favourite anime songs, it will be very different, as it will based on those anime i watched during my childhood, and most importantly I don't live in Japan.

P.S. If you want to listen to some of the old songs here, you can dl it at www.j-hero.com. Only problem is that it's in Thai and you will have to figure which songs are which. If you scroll over the "download" icon, and looking at the pics, it will give you some clue.
